Summary

I searched a few options to make a sticker to laptop, where it would seek attention and interest to maker attitude.

When I was searching ideas, I found an Inkscape tutorial about drawing a 3d cube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OatXmgGET_4. So I made my own with maker slogan I thought good.

I have used the process of making digital models and vector graphics in teaching crafts and technology. Mostly we have used laser engraving and cutting, so vinyl cutter is not so much used.

I took a challenge to make text in visually cube form, but in 2d, so the process turned out very interesting and i spend guite a few hours making my sticker.

As a multidisciplinary activity for school: Students can, for excample, design, make and provide signs or badges to influence issues they want to improve in school.

As an STEAM -process steps could be implemented like this:

  • design briefing: Students search issues that are okay in school. After that, they seek facts that could be better, or which should be better taken care of.
  • Study: Students create a small survey in their class/grade etc. (attitudes, issues in environment etc.)
  • Ideation: How different ways we could manifest better practises or offer guides to better? What kinds of products would help that? How and where they should be used?
  • Creation: Studying usage of vector graphics program and digital cutter, trying and creating various products.
  • Documentation/argumentation: What was made? How the work was shared between members in the group?
  • Reflection: How was it going? Good points? Is there something to be improved in future? What kind of changes did happen?
