The Instructions

Lesson 1

In this lesson, students will research and design the Desk Calender and any attachments they wish to include.

Begin by showing students a basic example of a Desktop Calender you have already made. Ensure that is shows design flaws that students will need to fix.

Advise students that they are going to design and code their own Desk Calendar over the next few lessons.

Inform students they have the remainder of this lesson to design their Desk Calender, including choosing the card stock colours and exta colours within Brother CanvasWorkspce.

Students should already know the basics of using Brother CanvasWorkspace.

Lesson 2

In this step students will finish designing and begin drawing and cutting their design out using the Brother ScanNCut.

Advise students that in this lesson they are finishing their design and they will be drawing and cutting out the Desktop Calender with the Brother ScanNcut.

Lesson 3

This lesson students are putting their Desk Calender together. Students will have design flaws which they will begin solving.

Advise students they will finish drawing, cutting and putting together the calendar.

Once students have completed this, give them suitable time to show other students within their class what they have created.

Have a class discussion regarding any design problems they can see within their Desktop Calender. As a class, also discuss solutions they can come up with to fix their Calender.

Advise students they have 2 more lessons to make changes and solve any design problems they have.

Lessons 4-5

Students have 2 lessons to make changes and improve their Desk Calenders,

Give students time to improve their Desktop Calender. This can include, but not limited to:

  • Pieces of the card are too intricate/small
  • Change Card stock colour

  • Change text colour
