Summary

Lesson will be helpful for Introduction to Coordinate Axes, 3Dimensional Space, Understanding Orthogonal Projections, Exploring Light and Shadow, enhance imagination and Founational 3D thinking, Students will gain familiarity with the coordinate axes, understanding how they are used in graphical representations and technical drawings. During the lesson students will develop spatial reasoning by encouraging students to fold planes to create 3D forms.

 

What You'll Need

Graph paper and pencils

Light source (flashlights or desk lamps)

Rulers, protractors

Colored markers or pencils

The Instructions

Warm-up Activity (10 minutes)

Warm-up Activity (10 minutes) Guess the form (explore light and shadow look at siluet, imagine the form.)

Teacher introduce secret object, showing projections of object using light and manipulative , without showing an object, then learners will imagine and draw what form could have an object, they will sketch an object then compare with each others and then have a look on object.

Explain & Demonstrate: Orthogonal Projections (10 minutes):

Begin with a brief discussion on how 3D objects are represented on 2D surfaces in technical drawing. Show simple examples of orthogonal projections (top, front, side views of a cube) to illustrate the concept.Define orthogonal projections and discuss their importance in technical and engineering drawings.

Show students how to draw simple projections (top, side, and front views) of a cube on graph paper.

 

Light & Shadow Experimentation

Hands-on Activity: Light & Shadow Experimentation (10 minutes): Combining Projections with Shadows (15 minutes):

Hands-on Activity: Light & Shadow Experimentation (10 minutes):

In pairs, students set up a light source and observe the shadows of different objects (cubes, prisms).

They sketch the shadows formed and note how the shape changes with light angle adjustments.

Combining Projections with Shadows (15 minutes):

Asking students to draw the top, front, and side views of an object, then add the shadows to each view based on the light source angle.

This integrates their understanding of projections and shadow behavior.

inrtoducing Axonometric projection as a type of orthographic projection used for creating a pictorial drawing of an object, where the object is rotated around one or more of its axes to reveal multiple sides.[

place a simple geometric object ( cube, prizm, cylinders) in the center of xy plane, use light to have projections on xz plane and yz plane,

draw on paper a xyz axes and orthogonal projections, using also measuring tools,rulers,

then they draw projections with pencils,

They will be introducsed to Digital tools and create 3D objects.
