I did some Penrose teselation tiles in laser so I wanted to cast inside biomaterials. Wasn’t as successful as expected in part because the fablab was flooded that day.
i. How can you integrate this process (building molds / biomaterials) in your own
classes?
I still think that I could make molds as a analogy for objects and instances in computer Science but I still don’t have the final idea of how to get there.
ii. How does this project inspire you?
It inspires me to go further and make it better with the help of the chemistry department to find the correct depth of the mold.
iii. Summarize the discussion in your group work about sustainable practices and
circularity. Imagine that you are required to give some advice to your education
center leadership on how to make sustainable development better integrate into
school activities. What piece of advice would you give them?
I would potenciate the circular waste in the school so it’s clear to the students that we can use the food waste into materials for the class or using a plastic press to create new objects using the bottles or the plastics that we have in the school. I think that if the school has these circular systems and is transparent about it. Lead with example.
iv. Reflect on your own teaching. How do you deal with aspects presented in UDL?
Can you present a simple learning activity using laser cutter and/or biomaterials
in which you take UDL into consideration (do not go in details, just explain the
activity in two or three sentences).
When I do the final project activity (explain arrays with lasercutted cardboards) I want to apply UDL giving the student different ways to interpret the same concept (with the computer, with the paper, with their hands).
