The Instructions

Day 1 ( tourism )

In this day we will be introducing the participant to the tourism and the tourist places that can be visited in Qatar, We will also introduce the participant to technology and how technology been involved in tourism, in addition to the benefits been added to the tourism realm by technology and how it made the experience much richer, In order to introduce participant to NFC Technology and its application.

1- We will start by introducing the tourist places in Qatar.

This video shows most of the places that are being promoted for tourism, among the others in Qatar.

2- Then we will talk about tourism in general.

3- Then we will introduce the whole program to the participant.

  • The entire program is about tourism and how technology has impacted the realm positively.

4- Then we will ask the participant about technology.

  • Technology is the part that involves in the human life where it makes their lives easier.

5- The following video will show the technology to interfere with tourism over the following years and how it will change the experience of the tourist.

6- Then let’s take the participant ideas about the impact of the technology.

7- Then lets explain one of the most used technologies these days when it’s used to pay worldwide using the phone like Apple Pay.

8- This technology works over very low range as the transmitter and the receiver has to be very close, almost 1 to 2 cm of distance between in order to send and receive the data.

9- some application used over this technology.

10- How do you think this technology is an added advantage for the tourism realm.

11- What we will be doing today –>

  • We will read and write NFC tags using our smartphones.

12- What we will need today.

13- What is the NFC tag ion general.

  • The tag is the chip that stores the information.

  • An emulator is an application that can be transmitter or receiver on the mobile phone.

14 – Now we will be using the smartphone with an application of NFC installed to read and write tags.

Day 2 ( Flex Electronics)

Participant are going to be introduced to flex electronics in order to get to know the basics of this technology and its applications in order to build a circuit using Arduino microcontroller for NFC reader.

1- We will start by asking the participant about what they know about electronics.

  • Most of them will be sure that electronics are no more than the devices that they use and see.

2- Then we will ask them the difference between electric and electronic.

  • The difference is that :
  • In electric, we are studying the flow of the current in the conductive materials.
  • In Electronics, we are studying the flow of current in the Semi conductive material.

3- The main particle here to study is the electron and its movement, as the electrical current is the flow of this electron from particle to another and so on.

4- Then we will explain the difference between the electron current and the conventional current.

5- Then we will show how this electron is being controlled.

6- The video below will explain the electrical current.

7- Then we will ask the participant if they know the flex circuits.

8- What would be the advantage of flex circuit.

9- Flexible circuits are normal circuits, but they are made up of flex material that can bend and stretch according to the needed application.

10- Some of the uses for the flex circuits.

  • Flex circuits are widely used for sensors in order to fit on the human body skin, keeping the comfort of the user.

11- The below video will show a real application for flex sensor under research.

Day 2 (What to DO)

In this day we will be assembling the NFC reader and build a circuit with the Arduino to write and read NFC tags.

1- We will start showing the participant what we are going to do.

2- Then we will show the participant what is needed to build the prototype.

3- This is the connection we have to achieve with the Arduino to have the circuit working.

4- Before the connection of the circuit, we have to solder the NFC module.

5- Then we will start coding the Arduino microcontroller using the Arduino IDE.

6- Coding or programming is the process of telling the machine what to do through writing instructions line the machine can understand.

7- We will use the mfrc522 library in order top send and receive data from the module.

8- We will go through loops in order to let them understand the irritation process happens each time the tag is approaching the reader.

9- Then we will go through the if statement and what is the importance of having them in the code.

Day 3 (Wearable Technology)

Participant are going to be introduced to the technology of wearables in order to know its classifications and it uses in real life in order to build a circuit using the Adafruit circuit playground microcontroller that control the LED using a flex sensor.

1- What is the technology of Wearable technology.

  • It’s all about the devices that are worn on the body with comfort.

2- Wearables are classified into several types according to how it’s being worn.

3- Then we will show a video that will explain wearables

4- Wearables are widely used these days, most of us have at least one wearable device.
